# ADR 0001 — Stageframe Does Not Own the Agent Runtime ## Status Accepted ## Context Stageframe integrates with agentic systems but is not intended to replace them. Without a clear boundary, Stageframe could expand into: - agent creation - workflow orchestration - tool execution - prompt management - model hosting - autonomous runtime infrastructure This would create unnecessary scope and direct competition with established agent frameworks. ## Decision Stageframe will not own the primary agent runtime. Stageframe will focus on: - ingestion - normalization - visualization - observability - presentation - interaction - approvals - artifacts - sharing Underlying agent systems remain responsible for: - reasoning - orchestration - tool execution - workflow logic - runtime state - model selection ## Consequences Positive: - reduced scope - faster launch - broader interoperability - cleaner positioning - easier integrations Tradeoff: Stageframe depends on external systems for execution.
